Health & Harmony Book Club

Join us for a discussion about African American Herbalism: A Practical Guide to Healing Plants and Folk Traditions by Lucretia VanDyke! This beautiful book weaves together history, personal stories, traditional herbal practices, and practical recipes. VanDyke honors the deep legacy of African American healers, rootworkers, and herbalists, showing how these traditions were carried through slavery, emancipation, and into modern times. She also gives lots of guidance on different herbs, remedies, and rituals, blending the spiritual and physical aspects of healing written in an accessible, heart-centered way.

For this special June event, you’re invited to bring and share the healing foods and remedies she talks about to honor the community, tradition, and hands-on connection of the book. Simply pick a favorite herb or recipe from the book to "present" during the potluck/show & tell with a little story about why you chose it or what it means to you.

We can’t wait to spend time with you in this ceremonial and joyful event!
